How to stop electrolysis in my ranger

So there is a bolt hole in the block somewhere for a ground wire?

I'm not sure on yours specifically. Most older rangers have a ground strap from the back of the head to the firewall, but on the passenger side. Generally, any easily accessible bolt on the block or head should work.
Also a lot of times the ground wire from the battery to the starter will also bolt to the block along the way.

If you want to make it work better, add one or two more ground wires. I always do that from random thingss to the frame and make sure the battery to frame is good

I seem to remember the neg battery cable on my 92 went from the battery, to the block with a midpoint connector, and continued to the frame just below the block connection. One single piece of wire, probably about 2-4AWG. I have heard of issues with weird electrical gremlins, electrolysis in the automatic transmission, if the small braided ground was missing that went from the intake manifold area to the firewall also.
