i just bought a 2.3 for my ranger and i was gonna put a small cam in it for a lil more power and i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what carb, ignition etc... to use. i wanns get some get up and go out of it but i dont wanna loose my gas milage because its gonna be my everyday drver.

well, an 89 block is fuel injected. so unless you have an earlier block, i dont think you can mount a carb to it.

www.esslingeracing.com makes good cams for the 2.3

if you are running a carb a 2bbl conversion is a must. or a very small 4bbl from holley.

and ignition, the factory system is fine, maybe just a hotter coil.
