Good Day,

Hope this is in the right forum

I have a 1988 Ford Ranger pickup, 4cyl-2.0 litre engine, 5 speed. It has a 2bbl motorcraft carburator PLATE # E87E-9510-AA. The choke when warm is not at 12 o'clock high like it should be, but at 1 o'clock. How does one adjust the automatic choke? Fully closed when cold as it should be.

Thanks in advance

I have the same engine in my Ranger. I Went to the parts store and got a manual choke kit. Then istalled it. Eventually i would thing about replacing the carburetor with a Weber carb.

By the way how many miles do you hae on it and has the carburetor been rebuilt. These carburetors they made for the 2.0 suck. they are too complicated to work on. And the odds are the choke does not work properly.

morning,

The engine has 130,000 kms on it. I have been talking with service parts guys, and the came up with the idea, that the 2.0 litre engine was for a tractor??

Not that i know of they made that engine for it till 1988. 1989 the stopped putting them in Rangers. The reason I asked is because I would consider getting a new carburetor and save yourself the headache later because that carb as i said sucks. Go to http://www.carburetion.com/ This is where I got mine from it comes with awesome instructions and the conversion kit. I would call the number and tell them you want the kit with a manual choke. it is a hundred dollars cheaper. But in the mean time just get a manual choke kit at your local auto parts supply.

What kind of Gas mileage are you getting?
If you decide to do this Mod you might lose some mpg. That is a maybe because i do not know what you are getting right now. I get 17.5-18 but I have more low end torque and it runs so much smoother and all around better.
