Well as the title says, I may have to sell my AK-74 to get through this winter but don't know how to go about doing this. I am the first owner of the gun and I assume registered in my name as when i bought it they did a background check and whatnot. Bought it new two years ago with a bayonet, two extra clips and have only fired 30 rounds through it to sight it. I also put a quick detatch scope mount on it along with a tru glow red dot scope.

All in all just wondering how to go about selling it, that is it I have to.

You put it in a box, tape it up good, label it "car parts", and then send it to me.

A week later you open the envelope, go to the bank with the check that says "for car parts" in the memo line, and deposit it.

I assume that's legal?

For an AK, probably not.

I would also assume they would xray the box. It will also come with its original box too.

Aside from the putting it in a box labled "car parts" and shipping it in my state private sales are fine.

I think anything that is considered an "assault rifle" has to be registered in PA. I don't have the money for an AK anyway.

Just another gun here. :icon_thumby:

contact a FFL transfer deal and see what they tell you. It varies from state to state. If it's not a fully auto gun you can sell it within statelines usually with no special anything(in some states). Just sell it. Bill of sale is never a bad idea..

crossing statelines? idk... shipping it? idk...

Shipping it USPS is not legal.

No, and I doubt it a 'real' AK...that is full auto. "AK74" has different parts inside than the typical AK...slows the cycling down. More accurate...

Indiana has very good gun laws.....it would be a felony to ship it to me however.....:shok:

Do plenty of research to get the best price. Some 'AK' clones are inexpensive and other demand a premium price.

I want to avoid shipping it. I also have 1080 rounds in an unopened urathain tuna/surplus can that i am selling with it too.

Price?
I assume its a mak90???

7.62X39 or .223?

Milled or stamped reciever?

Wood stock or polly?

I know a FFL holder btw

years ago i sold a bolt action rifle via the local classifieds in the newspaper. however, that was in alabama and i'm sure the gun laws are different there. most of the the time, person to person is all you need. writing up a bill of sale may not be a bad idea. in NC, the only time you have to let the sheriffs office know anything is if you're selling a handgun person to person. id call your local sheriffs office if you wanna be 100% safe

Its 5.45x39, polly, not sure on the reciever.
