My credo
If it doesn't fit, force it!
While stompin through the local boneyard stumbled upon what I think is an EB D44. It is attached to about a 4 foot chunk of frame and nothing else, and is missing the knuckles. What are some measurement I can take off this to make sure? I can probably snag it for 20 bucks or so...

It's a low pinion diff, and should be about 48" center-center on the lower ball joints and 37" roughly to the centers of the wedges.

Yep, low-pinion, and the diff housing is offset only a small amount like 5 or 6" toward the driverside. It also has smaller u-joints in the axles if the axles are still there (1.062" caps VS the 1.188" caps the D35 and most other D44s use).

Ok sweet! As soon as some of the snow melts I will have to go take another peek.
