how to go faster cheap

IMO, the quickest way to improve performance, is rear gearing. You don't necessarily have to change the gearing, but it definitely wouldn't hurt. If you have over sized tires and want to go quick, lose the bigger wheels. I rarely beat anyone off the line and I'm stock at the wheels. I'm not really trying to, but I watch most drivers pull away. It would be a losing situation to try to keep up. Modern vehicles rely heavily on voltage. Keeping everything maintained to it's very best is important to good performance. A new battery, gave my wife's Fusion, a kick in the pants feeling, the old battery did not deliver. I do feel your pain! I also enjoy the economy that my Ranger delivers.

What's wrong with ya'lls trucks? My Ranger feels just as smooth at 85 as it does 55.

Cheap shocks.

Also, Ranger's feel much more stable at high speed than Bronco IIs do.
