after reading that. it reminds me of the time I was flying up Illinois SR47 between Morris and Yorkville (go look at a map) doing 68 mph in a 55 pulling an empty flatbed. I was heading into the Menard's DC in Plano IL and I had 30 min before I ran out of hours (back when we could still split log). It was 11:30 pm and pitch black. I kinda seen the outline of the car behind a grain silo, didn't think anything of it. I come into yorkville where it changes to 45 mph and slow down to 43 because of a stale green (about to change). I get pulled over 100 feet short of the light by a deputy sherrif and he informs me that I was going 68 in a 55 and he had 3 seperate legal clocks on me (you will never beat a legal clock, it is impossible, if thats the method the police use then that speedo is calibrated by GPS often) and asked me why I was in a hurry. I explained to him I had 30 min to get to the Menard's DC before the gate closed and I had to start a 5 hour break. about that time a DOT bear rolls up and walks up to talk to me, he said he had been following me for a while (since interstate 55, about 30 miles at that point) and wanted to see my log book. They checked my lights, checked my log book, thanked me for my honesty, told me not to ever be over 60 in Illinois ever again, and sent me on my way. not even a written warning. you know what ........ I am never over 60 mph in Illinois.
