eventually im going to put 35 inch tires under my ranger which currently has a six inch lift. i have flexed it to the point of almost rolling, right now with my 33x12.5 tires and 2 inch wheel spacers, but i still want to get over bigger rocks, so my question is, what can i do for more flex? wouldnt a 2 inch bodylift just make my truck more top heavy, and since i allready have long arms and the extreme drop pitman i could put in 8 inch lift coils for about the same brice as a body lift, but i think this would still make it too top heavy. aside from putting it on fullwidths, what can i do? should i just keep the six inch and cut the fenders to fit 35's and keep my center of gravity low, or what?

the body lift would have less of an impact on your center of gravity while offering some incomressible tire clearance. However, you suspension will perform the same as it does now. the 8 in springs will have a more detrimental effect on your CG, but you may also gain a little bit of travel which may be desireable. cutting your wheel weels would allow you to maintain your current CG (with the exception of the lift you get from the increased tire size).

Did you remove your sway bars?

Do you have longer radius arms?

What do you have in the back for lift?

I would cut the fenders personally.

sway bars removed in rear,, with the extended radius arms, i can flex the front far enough that the rear starts to come off of the ground. in the rear i have 63 inch chevy leaves with beltech shackles.

take off the front sway bar, get softer front coils so it can flex more, trim the fenders

wouldnt softer coils make it sit lower in front, and dont the swaybars up front kind of prevent the axle beams from pivoting, thus causing the ttb to act more like a straight axle. if so, then i think ill leave the front swaybars on, because when the beams pivot, it makes your front axle become narrower, and also more likely to roll right? what do you guys think?

sway bars limit flex and or body roll...... I took mine off and drive it daily, its different and has slightly less "road manners" but you get used to it. I drive on the interstate 80+mph with no problems. Just cut the fenders already:icon_hornsup:

plus adding 8" coils is going to jack up your steering angles

a lot of people use the 6" lift coils for the xj. They are softer but they sit just as high because they are taller. The sway bar only controls body roll. no matter what you cant make ttb act like a straight axle. Essentially the sway bar just keeps the axle straight relative to the frame/ body, so they limit the amount of articulation you can have.

im planning on the same set up almost but im only gonna have a 4" lift with a 2" body lift and 2" trimmed outta the fenders. how u think thatd work out?

Toss the sway bar, get the body lift or personally i'd cut the fenders and run the 35's that way.

Your only other option for getting more flex out of the front end it to start playing with softer coils, either from a jeep or early bronco. That also opens the doors to alot of new problems, mainly with the steering. A simple dropped pitman and soft coils don't get along too well in a TTB truck. You would need to go to a modified superlift superrunner steering system.

with the 8 inch coils have fun trying to get the camber straight. one of my buddies tryed to do 6inch coils with a four in lift and he had a nightmare to get it to go down the road straight

Buy a 6 pack and a sawzall. I had 35s under my b2 with only 2-3 inches of lift. it had a incredibly low center of gravity and flexed very well thanks to the Jeep coils. Body lifts are great until you hit something and your cab shifts.....

get a long travel kit with some fiberglass fenders.

yeah but thats a ton of money, and im gonna build this one into a rockcrawler, ill wait for a good deal on an extra cab 2wd before i build my prerunner, and mines a mazda, so i dont think i can get fiberglass for it, id probably have to buy a whole ranger front clip with prerunner bumbers to do that. ive decided im just gonna fold the fenders, and stuff 35's until i can get another rbv as a daily, and then put my truk on full width dana 44s with a nine inch rear. and then ill throw my current setup on the other rbv.
