How much misfire does it take to set a code? Seems to occasionally miss. My temp sensor is about gone. My gas mileage is down wondering what is the cause. Open loop on the computer?

It's pretty smart. It might not be setting a code, but the computer has a log from the misfire monitor recorded in Mode 6 data that should tell you which cylinder(s) are missing. It has to see a certain number of misfires in a certain period of time before setting a code.
