How should I quit my job?

Tell them the job is killing you and you need to quit asap, but you'd be willing to pull a few more nights until they get a replacement. But ONLY a few. Don't want to hang them out to dry, but they don't get the full two weeks either. Do unto others...

this is what i would do...

ahwile back i did this to pay off some credit cards. i would work my job from 7:00am-3:30pm then my second job from 4:00pm-12:00am. I was a vehicle porter at a toyota dealership, the job was easy, i was just getting burned out from always working. I basically pulled cars into the shop for the mechanics to work on them. I was the only porter that knew how to drive stick shift (go figure)

The night time manager was pretty cool to work with. I worked it almost a month and came in on a saturday and the day time manager pissed me off. We were required to wear the black polos that said toyota on them and mine hadnt come in yet so i was wearing a black polo of my own and he pulled me into his office to tell me that i had to go home because i wasnt wearing the uniform. even after i told him mine hadnt come in yet he still insisted i go home. so i quit on the spot and told him i dont need this second job, nor do i need some shop manager who i make more $$ at my first job taking out his frustrations in life on me.

The best thing to do is to talk to them first. Tell them you have a better opportunity that relates to the field you're studying, and it clashes with the schedule you're on. So you have to quit ASAP. Even if you have to work 1 or 2 more days, you get out of the 2 weeks notice and quit on good terms.

If you just quit either by not showing up or some other reason that'll piss them off, normally they will hold your last paycheck until you come in and talk to them. Happens every time here.

It's never a good idea to burn down bridges. Former employers will NEVER give bad references for legal reasons.....all their lawyers will allow them to do is verify job description, attendance records, and dates of employment. Can we assume you never quit a job before?

Just tell them you don't like the job and don't wanna be there anymore...... Beating around the bush never gets you too far.... Like they say, honesty is the best policy, and if you have a good boss, I'm sure he will understand where you are coming from..... You've only been there for a week, so there are really no strong ties with the company, anyway

Shove a whole slice of 3 meat treat in your mouth and fake a heart attack.:headbang: I would just tell them its beating you down and work one more week, at least you will have that excited im gettin outta prison feeling.:icon_thumby:

You don’t have to be lie around for such matters, just inform them that you are not happy whit things gone so far and looking forward to find a job which gives me satisfactory. Simple as that!

Thanks everyone for the replies, Honestly this is the nicest group of forum goers ive ever talked with. Always got good things to say.

But anyways, as soon as my motorcycle sells, hopefully tomorrow, im gonna talk to my manager. Gonna say I really dont wanna stay the whole two weeks cause its burning me out but I'll stay one week. Should go alright I suppose.

OK - Here's my thing. I fired a guy last week who have worked for us for two years. Since the first of the year, he has been here on time 8 days. ???8 days wtf??? Unacceptable. Where is some loyalty?
