came across this truck on craigslist a few minutes ago. Looks like it was rolled on its side or something. How much do you think it would cost to get that fixed. It is exactly the truck i really want, but i never thought id find an fx4 i could afford. Im not sure if its worth the trouble so i figured id ask you guys opinion

It doesn't look too bad. I'd go for it. I doubt fixing it would bring the overall investment up over what you'd pay for one in perfect condition.

yea but how much is it going to cost to fix? I could probably even talk him down more but still, its pushin my budget. The reason i dont get one in perfect condition is because i cant afford one

I'd guess probably another 1-2K to fix the damage.

i could swing that, but i feel like it be more. thats what, a mirror, alotta dents to be pulled and some paint? hmmm

fix it yourself. even if you just pop some of the dents out it makes a bug deference when you go to a body shop i don't have much body work experience but i think i could fix that. and if you cant you would just be back at needing a body shop so it shouldn't hurt to try.

a dent puller and maybe a new passenger door. would be a good start.

pull the dents the best you can then look for a door at a jy if you look hard enough you might find one in your color.

so you guys think its worth checking out? what should i offer him?

offer him 4K and go from there. hell id buy and it just drive it the way it is until i could afford to fix it.

I would buy that rig in a second, and just make the drivers side match the passenger side.:icon_twisted:

Doesn't really look like a rollover to me... I would buy it and drive it the way it is. I would wheel the crap out of that and it would end up looking worse anyway.

i emailed him...it was a tree.

what i dont get is why didnt he get it fixed through insurance?

you would spend much more time trying to repair that that than it's worth. If it was me I would look for a good used set of doors (if it is a four door) and throw a front fender and a box side on(a good used box might run you less) then have it painted. the dent in the driver side bed looks repairable. There is quite a bit of damage there, I'd estimate it at $3-4k+ if you had a body shop repair it.

it has a clean title. either he did not have insurance or he just took the check ie, the insurance company might have paid him for the damage. say 4,000 and then he decided not to fix the truck. if he were to get in another accident they would not cover the collision part. if you buy it that way your insurance company will inspect it and not cover the existing damage. Also I think the state inspections are getting stricter about body damage but I am not positive.

Its massachusetts, auto insurance is required. And since it is less than 10 years old, i believe it is required to have full coverage, but im not sure. He may have just gotten a check from insurance, i hadnt thought of that.

He is selling it because he wants to make money. Thats all he said.

I guess the biggest thing is replace the doors. How much are 2 doors gonna run me? and how hard is it gonna be to find matching ones?
