How much WORK would this be?

I got a '84 Ranger with a 2.8 v6, worn out C3 transmission. My truck has new brakes, body is decent and good tires.

My dad has a '88 Ranger Ext cab with a 2.9 and a 5spd. Front end grill area is all messed up from a deer accident a few years ago, and just recently the steering column melted from a shorted wire(melted the dash cluster also)

So I was thinking on buying my Dad's Ranger and upgrading mine to a 2.9 and a 5 spd.

Can you give me an ideal of how much work this will evolve? I'm thinking the hard part would be with the installing of the manual transmission hydraulic works into my truck.:dunno:

Should be pretty easy and straight forward. The holes are already on your firewall for the pedals. Really all you need to do is drop the 2.9 in, swap the dash, all the fuel lines, tank, and pumps, etc.

It will probably take a few weeks to actually do it, but the job is more time consuming than difficult.
