Because I don't think it was as high as what they are asking for this used one.

I paid about $14,000 for my ranger new. I've seen them going for 12k in worse shape than mine.

There's no logic to the prices people want for used trucks these days. A quick search shows an 85 Eddie Bower 4x4 msrp was about $15,000 new in 1985, so you could probably get it for 13 or 14k.

$23,633 for a 85.

This had better have super low miles or something.

I'll be glad when they start delivering the New Broncos.... I would hope it settles the used market on the old Broncos to an acceptable level of sanity.

I'm hoping that Ford does start the Maverick at $20,000. It will reset the price of old Rangers.

Old prices always look low. The dollars were bigger back then. The 62 Beetle I drove when I got my license in 1970- after spending a year rebuilding it- cost $1200 new. I had a 67 Corvette in 1973 that was $5600 new. In 1970 $3 worth of gas would not fit in the 10 gallon tank in my beetle. I started at the dealer in 75 for $3.50 and hour and our retail rate was $10. A new base model 75 Pinto was under $3000. It's not how many dollars it cost, it's how long you had to work to get those dollars. A Model A was $365 brand new one year but that was more than many people earned in a year.

The introduction of the new ranger didn't seem to lower the value of the old rangers any so I have my doubts the old bronco prices will drop either. :dunno:

Yes but you can literally buy a 2021 Ranger for the price they want for that 85 bronco... that's not inflation, thats idiocy.

Surviving over 30 years and being scarce adds to the value.

It is, and it isn't. With as many people as we have in this country the odds are pretty good that ONE of them will be more than willing to pony up the asking price. The odds they see the ad though.. thats another story.

I dunno how scarce bronco 2's are. And while we are all obviously ford fans, lets face it. The bronco 2 was not a great vehicle even by 1985 standards. The transmissions sucked, they didn't handle great, the engine was mediocre...

Finding one in mint condition is cool and all but they aren't rare, aren’t special, and aren't very good vehicles. Sure some weirdo would pay that but for that money I'd buy a new truck.

They gave us a hand me down that they sold all over the world with absolutely zero options for powertrain. They've grown on me... but I'm still not on board totally with it.

We will see with the next gen... I'm trying to dig up some dirt on what's coming but info is scarce. I for one have high hopes...

Well if the next gen Ranger shares even some of the features of the new Bronco (mainly the 7 speed manual option) it should be a really nice truck.

Compared to a Jeep CJ, a Bronco II drove and handled good, got good mileage, and was quiet and comfortable. We sold an absolute pile of them for years. The manual transmissions were Mitsubishis or Toyo Kogos and didn't suck any worse than what Toyota and Datsun/Nissan was selling at the time. The C5 was pretty durable but the A4LD drove better. We were impressed with them until the Explorer appeared.
