How much of the 97 donor is compatible with the 92;fenders,doors windshield,etc?Thanks:icon_thumby:

As far as body and parts goes, it's not directly compatible at all and would take serious mods to make anything fit...

You can, however, consider dropping the cab and box straight on the 92 frame...or vice versa...whatever is the better frame...but, again, you may need to move the body mounts and fab up some bed mounts (or drill some holes)...

The engine and tranny can be swapped in, but the drive shaft and coupler at the rear end may need to be changed...or swap in the whole rear end...

Thanks guys.My body and frame are mint and by the week-end I'll have a 2.3 in the truck with only 180k km(110k mi)but I would like to get 2-3 more parts trucks to make a winter-beater outta during the warmer months.
Are the master cylinders and powersteering, etc interchangeable?I guess I'll have to play it by ear and see what I end up with (a Forzda?).Thanks

A lot of parts are the same from 93 up. I think the doors on a 2010 will interchange with a 93. I know the fenders will physically bolt up, just the 93-97 have an extra lip on the bottom to match the front end. beds will bolt up from pretty much any generation ranger, and rear windows have been the same since forever i think. Just put a 90 rear window in a 95 the other day. Also a lot of interior panels are the same. No original designs in the past 18 years means a lot of easy interchangeability for owners. obviously 83-97 don't share very much with the 98+ in the suspension department. But rear ends, leaf springs ECT will all physically bolt right up. And all suspension components are fundamentally the same from 83 till the beginning of a-arms in 98. Suprising how much is shared technology in the past 20 years.

Thanks again Brian for your help.I just returned home with the Ranger.I noticed he had 8 spark plugs in a pic he sent me so I asked and the donor also had 8 plugs.Turns out the Mazda is a 93;not a 97 as we were told. The motor still only has 180k km (110k Mi) on it regardless. He's still got master cylinder, etc to remove and save. Also I don't get 14 more hp that I would have if it had been a 97.The (interchangeable) parts I was asking about were between a Mazda and a Ranger. Thanks everyone again for their help.

That's goog. i don't know how true 14 more hp is anyways. they're all gutless. But the easy of the swap will really be nice. why do you ask what's interchangeable? what are you trying to swap? anything can be made to fit since you have the whole truck. only way the body panels are going to line up is to swap cabs though. and if that's the case, why swap motors at all?

I'm thinking of future use.If I can get a couple parts trucks,it would be good to know ahead of time;to make a second truck for a winter beater. My curent truck has a body that is mint, from California.I hope to keep for many years with the help of some parts trucks for suspension and mechanical. There are some pics in my "engine swap" thread. Thanks

from your 92 to the donor 93 you can swap every suspension/brake/drive train component with no problems. plenty of useable parts there. only thing different is the body.

Thanks guys, you all helped me out too! I wanted this nice Ranger, but it had solid rear glass. I'll find a donor vehicle, or a junkyard slider.
