Well, the title says it all. I have a 2000 Ranger XLT extended cab stepside. It has a 3.0L Vulcan v6 in it and it is 4x4 with 3.73 gears. I was just wondering what it could tow? Thanks

I believe around 2360 lbs with a Max combined vehicle weight of 6000 lbs. Should be in your owner's manual.

i hauled at least a 1200 pound trailer with a gen one ranger minus the bed...clutch didnt like it

The above 2360 lbs is close to limit w/manual. With your auto, the limit is 3360 lbs

be sure whatever you tow has good trailer brakes. I've the same truck, and brakes, actually the lack of, are the determining factor in how well something tows.
shorter tires are better for towing, I've used both the stock 235-75/15, and once some 225-70/15. there was a big difference with the smaller tires, taller than stock will not go well with the 3.0

Towing with OK with shorter tires with 3.73 gears as pjtoledo said. I towed my race car on a trailer with around 3500 lbs total plus about 800 lbs on the bed with my 89 2.9L Ranger with 31" tires and 3.73 gears. It was not too bad once rolling but starting out was hard on the clutch. Once I switched to 4.11 gears it worked much better but I still had to keep the rpm up when towing to stay in the power band. I expect a 3.0 would need the higher rpm also.
It would make it easier with an automatic but a trans fluid cooler should be used.

So since snow is just around the corner, would I be able to pull out a vehicle that is stuck? I have a 2" receiver with a shackle, as well as a large tow rope. Would I have any trouble pulling someone out?

As long as you fill the bed up with some weight for better traction, you can pull someone out depending how bad they're stuck
