I have a 99 ranger 4X4 with a 3.0 with 410 gears. I run about 3000 rpm's around 60-65. Is that right. Seems a bit high to me. Thanks for your responses in advance.

i have an 07 with 4.10s and i run about 2200 at 65 at 3000 i am doing about 75 or 80

sorry, I have an automatic transmission. I'm just wundering If I have an over drive problem. I just bought the truck used.

Is O/D turned off? Seems about right if you were running with O/D locked out.

One way to find out is tapping the button on the gearshift to see if the RPM's jump up when it's supposed to drop out of OD.

What size tires are on it? (3000 sounds about right if you have 235/75R15s on it).

The 3.0L is most efficient around 2700-3000 RPM (65 MPH). You could maybe put slightly larger tires on it though.

Im running 33x12.50x 15's on it. The overdrive does not kick out if I push the button at speeds of 60-70. I can feel it at 40-55 though.

That motor makes it's power at higher rpms.

If you gear it down too much you will lose milage.

i have a 95 4x4 with 4.56 gears and 33inch tires and yeah that is right, i drive the freeway about 65 70 and my rpms are anywhere from 2500 to 3500.. or 5000 when im passin people.. the 3.0 engines love high rpms so you shouldnt be worried..

you gotta mosh on the pedal when your hittin 65 70 to get into that passing gear O/D but 5000 rpms comes up real quick..

With 33s at 60-70MPH you are actually going much faster than your speedo says...

my speedo actually dosent work anymore.. woohooo!

my 89 with a 2.9 and a 5speed is around 3 grand at 65mph with the 235-r15 mudders on it
