i am wanting to get a new heater for my garage. i have been looking at the heaters at menards, that hang on the wall and are vent free. I want the one with the fan in it but my question is Yeah it says it will heat up to a 1000 sq foot garage ok, but how fast. How big is the fan and if it is 15 degrees outside am i going to have to start it 1.5 hours before i go out there.

here is a pic

If your garage is not insulated, forget it. You need a bigger one. That thing will hardly keep the chill off you if you are standing in front of it.

so you are pretty much saying insulated or not insulated they are not worth a damn. i have been looking to at so used furnaces whether they are updraft or down draft.

A good wood or pellet stove would work really well, but the biggest thing is insulation. no heater big enough to keep an uninsulated garage is worth it cause its gonna cost an arm an a leg to keep it warm and it will run constantly.

Get insulation if its not its really worth it. An insulated place will already feel warmer then an uninsulated place and once you heat it up its alot less work to keep it warm.
