How low on ttb?


Using a 91 rollover I put an 87 stx hirider lift on it and checked/replaced worn suspension and steering parts.

Did you put the STX drop pitman arm on it? If not, then I'll bet that could have contributed something to it rolling over.
If you did put the arm on, then (without seeing it) I guess don't really have an answer other than an issue with suspension tuning maybe. I know desert guys push these suspensions to the limit and aren't having too much issue with it... (this in spite of doing cut & turns on their beams which significantly increases the jacking leverage on the suspension due to it raising the TTB pivot points higher).
 
Yes, I used the stx arm. I'd like to get your experienced eye on my setup. That will have to wait until the snow melts...another month or two. I'll PM you at that time if you wouldn't mind?

Getting a awd transfer case to adapt is another hard part. The only logical thing is to use the v8 explorer awd auto trans & case and get an adapter plate to use behind whatever engine (I know lima 4 cyl to sbf v8 is common, idk about v6s..) Or use an F150 v8 m5od-r2 with the explorer awd t-case. Now using a Super Coupe m5od-r2 might just be the ticket if you can convert it from 2wd to 4wd to use the t-case since it puts the shifter farther back and probably has better gear ratios.


Or you can go with a completely different drive train, one that was awd to begin with and retrofit that to the ranger chassis.

All-Wheel Drive (E-4WD) Aerostar (1990–1997)

Introduced in 1990 and offered until the end of production in 1997, Ford offered an electronically controlled four-wheel drive option on XLT and Eddie Bauer models. The option, called E-4WD, standing for Electronic 4-Wheel Drive, was more specifically an all-wheel drive system. With all-wheel drive, the 160 hp (119 kW) 4.0L Cologne V6 was standard equipment.

This system differed from other four-wheel-drive Ford vehicles of the time in that it engaged when it detected rear wheel spin, powering the front wheels automatically with no driver input required. Another difference is that the Aerostar's unique Dana TC28 transfer case employed a true center differential, though this center differential was regulated by an electronically controlled electro-magnetic clutch; this means that all four wheels are essentially powered at all times. As the system was not designed for off-road driving, there is no low-range gearing.

Charles! I see you found my thread. Haha. I'm still just thinking about this idea. Not too sure if it will actually go through or not. Just brainstorming and gathering information.

AWD transfercase

lowered and made into a sick track truck :icon_rofl: :icon_hornsup:

sorta a "what if" if ford produced something to compete with the GMC Syclone :D

Glad to see you found your way over here. haha. I'm kinda thinking the same thing. If I don't do it to the Ranger I have now, I will do it to one later on down the road. And you can never have enough Ranger info floating around in your brain.
