I posted a few questions about adapting seats into my 2000 Ranger. I had a seat of seats out of a 95 Eddie Bauer F150 that were slated for another project that never happened. I have already taken the seats apart to repair and clean them so I figured why buy seats when I have those just taking up space? The fallowing is what I did to adapt then into my Ranger. And, they work great.

The seat frame in the pictures is the seat out of the F150. Like I said, I took them apart to clean them up and perform some minor repairs. You do not have to take them apart to fit the new sliders to them. In this picture I am tapping the very back hole on the lower seat frame. It has three but only the center on is already threaded.

This is the bottom of the Ranger seat. I need those sliders on the other seats.

I found it is easier to take the seats apart if you start by removing this handle first.

The Ranger seats are a little more complicated and you are going to need two different sized torx bits along with a 10MM socket.

You have to get the seat halves apart in order to get the sliders out.

These mechanisms have to come off as well. But they are pretty self explanatory once you get in there.

If you GENTLY remove the retainers, you can reuse it. Keep track of the O-ring behind it though.

Here are the Ranger sliders off the seats. All those brackets have to come off.

A good drill bit makes short work of the rivets holding the two brackets in place.

Sorry, the photograph I had of the sliders with the brackets removed did not show up. Just know, they are perfectly flat now. The rear hole from one of the rivets is where you will slide the bolt through for the rear hole on the seat frame that had to be threaded.
A hole will have to be drilled at the front of the slider. It ia exactly ¼ inch in and ¼ inch from the end.

Once the pilot hole was drilled I used a step bit to get the correct diameter for the seat bold.

Here is a picture of the Ranger sliders bolted on to the lower seat frame. Has you can see I was able to reuse the handle and hardware for the slider release and the stock return spring.

And here it is bolted into the truck. All the holes lined up and it fits like it was meant to be there.

Well, that is it. Now I just have to finish putting the seats together.

Nice write up! I look forward to seeing the finished product.

As usual though, I was in a hurry when I wrote it. So it is full of typos.

That's awesome I put 03 f150 seats in mine. Turned out awesome it is a snug fit

It was not to bad honestly took about two hours start to finish. I also used a cut off wheel and welder

I flagged this to be in the tech articles. Lookin good. :D

Great write-up! And those spiffy leather seats are nicer than my home sofa. I'm jealous! :D

All I need now are some newer and nicer seat covers. I will get into that search in a different thread.

Love, love, LOVE those leather seats! I have leather from an Explorer Sport that were in there when I bought it, and I dig em, but they're nothing compared to the ones from the King Ranch package, which is what yours look like. Nice job on them!

Thanks! By far best mod I have done!

I LOVE the tan KR interiors (by far favorite seats out of any vehicle - saddle leather on there is amazing!) and would love to have some in my truck but I have a red truck, which I personally don't care for with a tan interior except in rare cases, and I have a grey interior. I really wish they came in black! Or even that my interior was full black - then I could just do tan accents and have the seats match!
