no need to remove the steering wheel or column, there's a bolt coupler thing under the hood where it comes apart.
find the cab mount bolts and remove them, disconnect the engine wiring (there should be connectors connecting the engine to the body), disconnect the brake lines (or remove the master cylinder), disconnect the chassis wiring from the cab wiring (2 or 3 connectors under the hood, drivers inner fender), I don't know if the extended cab rangers have the cables under the cab going around a crossmember, it's held on with the seatbelt bolts.
3 people aren't enough for a regular cab, with a super cab I'd want at least 4 people if not 5 or 6.
