ok so last few hours i was bummin on c list and i found a CHEAP 2.3 motor, I thought it would be a good base for a turbo project, It would be a sleeper, in a 84 4x4 long box, I want to make it one of a kind, i see mostly2wd's with turbos,

I've done some research on it but theres a few things i cant find answers for,
I turboed a honda civic for a friend of mine and he had to get a programable ECU and a boost controler. do i have to get one of those? or will the ECU out of a Turbo car would be good enough and plug in to the factory 2.3 harness.
I plan to build the motor up and put a crank, rods, pistons, cam, i do not want to run a cast header on it, i would run a stainless. as far as my turbo choice its gonna be a Holset or T3/T4

the motor is a 94.
also would this bolt up to a factory trans that a 2.8 would run? Its a 4 speed with OD or 5 speed. I dont know what its called..

I'm going to go pick that 2.3 up tomorrow and start working on it soon.

2.3s and 2.8s have different bell housings.

I do not know if a Turbo ECU works with the ranger harness. Either way you're going to need to come up with a way of adding fuel and tuning the timing if you plan on adding more boost than stock. Boost controllers are used to control a wastegate outside of it's preset boost limit by limiting the amount of boost it sees, therefore keeping it closed longer and building more boost, if this is something you want to do, then yes, you need a boost controller.

shit balls! what trans could i use and still run a 5 speed with 4x4? i thought all the ford rangers had all the same bell housings. I dont want a 2 wd, I also have the FM145 for a trans, it says it has a removeable bell housing so could i get a 2.3 bell housing?
