How hard is it to replace a clutch in a 89 bronco

Hi guys, new here. I am wondering how hard it will be to change out a clutch on a 89 bronco with a 2.9 and 5 speed tranny?? 4wd

It's not hard so much as time consuming.

Pull the tranny bolts, pull the crossmember out, remove the driveshaft, shifter, remove teh tranny with trans case attached I believe, change clutch, put back the way you got it. In a nutshell.

Might want to have the flywheel resurfaced also.

is that for clutch, pressure plate and throw out brg? if so that don't sound too bad.

Don't for to replace the slave cylinder and pull the Y pipe down when you take the trans out, it's not 100% needed, but makes it a lot easier to go in and out.

Autozone is listing sets from 99.00 to 179.00, Not sure how good they are but the 99.00 includes O.E.M. manufactured clutch components kit includes: clutch, disc, release bearing, alignment tool, pilot bearing, spline lube.

Is it really necessary to remove the transmission from the B2 in order to replace the clutch? Saw a video on one showing the transmission still in the vehicle just the transfer case removed. If I don't have to go through the trouble of removing the transmission, it wouldn't be that bad, just lost of time, and paying attention to what you are doing I would think.

OReilly's has the best price and ALL the parts in their Clutch Set. Also inspect your fly wheel for scuffs and gouges.Better to get polished and turned while you have every thing apart than have to tear down again. GOOD LUCK and Have LOTS of patience. Take time to doit right, and you won't have to DO IT OVER...

If you are going to do all that, you should go ahead and replace the rear main seal while you are in there. Also, the 4.0 clutch is bigger and more reliable and will fit. You'll need a 4.0 flywheel and the starter from a 4.0, but it is worth the little bit of extra work.

I have somewhat small hands, and this will be done in a 1984 Ford Bronco 2 at some point, not really sure right now how the shape of the clutch is didn't really drive it around much when I did the test drive, but didn't seem to have any issues, so I'm guessing pretty far down the road, but might pull it one day and replace it anyhow just to be safe.
