I hydrolocked my 2.9 engine in my 1990 ranger about a week ago. It has a 5 speed manual transmission and it is 4 wheel drive for what it matters. I need to know what to expect when removing the hydrolocked old motor and replacing it with a used good motor. Im not sure what year truck the used engine came from.

Ive heard it only takes a few hours to remove the old engine but ive never messed with a 2.9 before..

but what all will i need to remove to swap over the new engine? wires, connections, hoses, etc.. its my first engine replacement.

impossible to answer.

if you have minimal rust corrosion its pretty easy to replace with same.

if exaust studs are rotted off and you dont know how to use or have access to a oxy/act torch your gonna be pissed
