How hard is it to do a body lift?

the lmc is everything you need just buy a few washers to put on the bottom of the bushings.. with s&h, i think my total was like $83.

saaaweet.lol well that might be the next thing that gets done to her before i get the tires. Are you runnin 33's on yours?

yep 4" susp, 3" body, and 33" tires. i would recommend the 3", because anything less will be cutting it close. as long as you got good knees and can jump. im 5'10" and i gotta hop to get in.

body lifts are simple, it took about 30 man hours to do mine, 2 guys and 2 long days... air tools i think were very important in mine, the rear bumper brackets were NOT fun to get off, i wouldn't have been able to do it without my impact... i woulda given up... same with some of my body bolts... also, your front body mounts will probably give you a lot of problems DO NOT BREAK THE BOLTS!!!!!!! you are in for a world of hurt if you do!!!!!

but yeah, the lift kit is nylon blocks that go between your body and the body mounts, just take a look under the truck now, they are on the outside of the frame rails, see if the bushings are rotted, and see if the mounts are rusted significantly, replacement of the mounts might be necessary also

I am just going to replace them while they are out, you never can be too safe i suppose and if i have the funds why not?If i break the front ones cant I just replace them?I plan on making it a weekend project so I will have plenty of room for mistakes.

the front mounts are weird, the bolt goes up through a rubber piece into a steel and rubber piece (and is threaded into that) through another rubber piece then a big steel washer and a big bolt... in the middle of there there's a bunch of body pieces to sandwich... but it tends to get stuck in the middle metal piece and break off and never come out again, not sure if you can get them at a moment's notice if it does break... mine was a PAIN IN THE ASS to get out, because it broke... and i couldn't get that part locally... and i had to deal with the same crap, twice... i THINK my problem is a result of a front end collision that bent both front bolts

if you can get them, i would... if someone can post an exploded view of the front mount i'll point it out...

oh, and MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A TORCH!!! a small propane torch is enough

The bodylift itself isn't too bad.

Making the bumpers look right on a first generation takes a little thinking though...

Not trying to steal the thread, but what about on my 2nd gen? And would i be wanting the 3" or 4"? Just a quick simple answer is great... sorry to intrude...

2" or 3" is your only commercially available options, I wouldn't go any higher than that if they made it.

You will still have to fab the rear bumper mounts since they are the same as a first... dunno about the front.

i wouldn't be surprised if one of the po's hit something with the front... it didn't do much damage to mine, grill, but not much behind that, and i still had problems... if you can get the pieces i'm talking about, then get them save yourself the hassle

will do then. Thanks yall for the tips much appreciated.:icon_cheers:

MY pa kit came with the relocation brackets, but it's not as simple as put them on tighten the bolts and walk away, it's body work, you have to line it all up to match, tighten them a little at a time and make sure it's not on an angle, the holes are usually elongated to allow them to move, so you can line everything up properly... just like the body lift, you are going to have to work to make your box and cab line up again... it's not just unbolt lift put blocks in, tighten and leave... there's a lot of pushing back and forth... make sure you measure your distance between the cab and box before you lift!!!
