I usually hate to ask top speed questions but I am curious. How fast can you get out of an older 2.3 4cyl 5 speed Ford Ranger? The most I had one up to (1991 model) is past the 85mph (with no load) speedometer but it couldn't be much past that and it took forever to get up to that fast! Let me know to fulfill my curiosity, Thanks! :D

My moms 93 2.3 could go past 90 mph, the speedo didnt had more numbers tho lol
my 2.5 which is a slightly bigger version of the 2.3 can hit 100 mph in stock tires and diferential.

keep in mind that the late 2.3 had more power than the first ones.

My 06' 2.3 hit 116 once(speedo was to 120) when it was new I thought it was limited to 92mph so I wasn't payin attention going after a friends tacoma. My 92' seems to get real smooth at 70mph(with 85mph speedo) and I've had it up to 80 and prolly could go more but I don't push it past 70ish ever even on the interstate where the speed limit is 70.(170k on it)

my old 96 2.3 2wd 5spd would hit 100mph then the governor would catch it and slow it down. had to do it in 4th gear tho, 5th would take too long to get there.:icon_rofl:

depends, are the doors on and are you buckled in?

tuck and roll baby! tuck and roll!

i have an 02' mazda b2300 (2.3l... DUH) the governor kicks in at 91mph i have 4.10 gears and 265/70r15 in the back and 225/75r15 in front (got it like that but, im puttin 31's on her monday)

I've only taken my 96 2.3l to about 70 but i know it reads low because of my 31s so i imagine it is really going 85+ since at 60 its really going 70 to 75...

this thread is a little over 2 years old....

Yeah, RSH even had a ranger back then....

If your top speed varies by 5mph with A/C on or off... You should probably just go the speed limit.

wow i floored it to just shy of 90 today and thought there was something wrong... maybe that explains the white smoke coming out my tailpipe when i got home :icon_rofl:
