How far should the clutch release on a 2002 4.0L?

I'm not talking about the components inside the cab of the truck, I'm actually talking about the clutch bearing release travel in the transmission.

I believe there is air in the system and I am trying to diagnose it before I try to bleed the master/clutch.

I'm getting about 1/4 inch release on my clutch and I dont think its enough.

Here is a link to a video thats explaining what I am talking about. Fast forward to 1:50 seconds.

1/4" seems about right. the vid calls for 5/16, but are your eyes good enough to see through that little inspection hole and see the difference? what prompted you to pull the cover and observe? is the pedal soft, do you sometimes have difficulty shifting, has the truck crept forward or backward while you had the clutch depressed? If you are having one or more of these problems and you are not losing fluid, air is the culprit. bench bleeding it as the video describes is the only way to guarantee a good bleed.
