How excatly do i check timing and fuel rail pressure?

I was looking at a thread where someone says their 4.0 feels like a 4 banger. Mine kinda feels a lot weaker than how it should.
 
you'll need a timing light and a fuel pressure gauge with appropriate fittings.

timing:
since your timing light will probably be inductive. clamp the probe around the number 1 spark plug wire.. the forwardmost wire on the passenger side. im pretty sure all 4.0L's are distributorless so you cannot adjust timing.

fuel pressure:
there will be a black or blue plastic cap on the fuel rail.. it looks like the cap on a tire. you remove this cap, pull the fuel pump fuse/relay and run the engine till it dies.

then screw your fuel pressure gauge onto this fitting, re-install the fuel pump fuse/relay and start the engine.

when removing the gauge, be sure to relieve pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse/relay and running the engine again
