I need to get a scan tool or something to bleed my abs when I bleed my brakes and have always heard good things about forscan. Trouble is I'm terrible with computers. Is it as easy as buying the software and connector, downloading it and using it like a scan tool? Seems like a great tool to have being as I'm stuck with this Ranger until the end of time now😂.

Any advice on this and whether to go with this or a cheaper scan tool that will bleed abs? Though it's hard to find out which ones will ACTUALLY bleed the abs on my truck.

Excellent thank you

Not super easy to figure out as compared to like a cheap code reader.

Google as you go and it isn't too bad.

It’s not hard to figure out and lets you do all kinds of things including live data and getting into the anti-theft.

Forscan is free. The extended license to get into the anti-theft is free or a donation. Donation buys you a year, free is a couple months at a time.

The adapter isn’t too expensive. Get one of the recommended ones.

Oh nice I thought I'd have to buy the adapter and pay for a subscription. Looks like around $50-60 for an adapter so that'll be much cheaper than finding a scan tool that bleeds abs and probably better in the long run.

forscan is super cool. you can turn on so much cool stuff and change the splash screens to cooler ones. and forscan works on mazdas also, which is nice if you have a mazda vehicle too.

i use it on my 24 ranger and on the 18 mazda3.

and if you are bored and want to make a little extra money on the weekends, you can put an ad up listing that you have forscan access and can mod vehicles for people. a buddy did that in colorado and was making 1-2k a month and i did it here for a few months. i only made about 200 a month so i gave up on it but if you are really comfortable using it and don't mind people messaging you all times of hte day, you can make money using forscan on people's vehicles

I'm still waiting for them to bring back lifetime licenses.

I emailed them a few years ago--when they weren't selling anything--and they said what you're really paying for is support and development. Since the team is Russian, the war is making it so they can't guarantee those things, so they wouldn't take people's money.

1yr is kind of a compromise--we're here now, but who knows about next year--but I'm worried even when the war ends, this will be one more thing that used to cost money once and is now a subscription.

I have an INNOVA SD35 scan tool and they show videos using it to bleed abs but on the listing description and box it came in it makes no mention of it. I need to plug it in tonight and see if it has that function.

If it does I'll be good to go for now but if not I'll try Forscan. It's free right for the basic stuff?

It's free for everything. Advanced functionality is gated behind what used to be called "engineering mode" and requires an "extended license", but you can get that free for 2mos at a time, as many times over as you want.

It's only a pain in the ass because when you reup, you're literally waiting for a real person to get online and email you back.

I'd pay once not to deal with the hassle. I won't pay forever for the same.

Yup, basic stuff is free and you can get a free extended license as many times as you want at this point, you just have to keep resubmitting every couple months.

And right when the 2 months runs out, is when you will need it that minute.

I really need to force myself to sit down and play with the program more. I've been in it a couple times to read things in the vehicles and poke around but nothing serious. Shame on me really.

My problem is that I don’t know what a lot of the live data values should be so most of time I don’t know what to make of the information it gives me.

I have PC/ED manuals for all three of my vehicles now. So, I should have that info now.
