how can you tell if the torque converter is going out?

take to well known tranny shop and have em test in front of you

What is it doing now to make you think it is going out ?

i can feel it go into any gear but it does not want to move. it tries to but only under high r.p.m. a few people told me it may be the t.c.

What is the fluid like? Does it smell burnt?

Sounds more like its seriously slipping.

did not seem burnt when i changed it, or not any metal in pan. just the normal little stuff on the magnet. guess i should go ahead and get this one rebuilt and get it over with!

If the torque converter was that buggered there would be metal throughout the transmission.
