Hey guys, I was trying to clean my truck the other day. I thought I could use normal plain carpet/upholstery cleaner to clean my seats. Unfortunately, it has left stains everywhere(I guess from the liquid seeping into the cloth and not leaving).

It's like it get dark in certain areas, I can't get it clean without screwing up the seats!!!

I have a 2006 B3000, so they are the newer style cloth... What in the world can i use to clean these things with? What do you clean them with?:icon_confused:

I need help, my stinky, sweaty seats need proper cleaning. :icon_bounceblue:

either take the covers off and wash them in a washing machine (line dry), or use a small portable steam cleaner if you want to leave them in

Wow, those are the only options? I didn't realize it was going to be this troublesome...

How do you take off the covers?

Take out the seats and flip them over, the fabric is held on with clips. Then pulls right off, be careful not to tear up the foam, be kinda gentle. The back rest must come off to remove the bottom cover. It is quite simple I have done it in a few vehicles and the results are amazing, it's worth your time.

if the seats are anything like mine, i have two (i believe) torx screws that hold my back rest on

just my tiny bit of help (if it even helps you)

I use the carpet cleaner that I have for my house. It has a hose attached to it so you can clean the sofa's, love seat's, etc. I just pull it outside and use the hose attachment and it works good. Don't have to remove the seats or anything.

That's good advice on pulling the seat covers. It's not that bad, and it is worth the time and effort.

I've got a Bissel Little Green carpet/uhpolstry cleaner. Works very well. I got mine at wally world, thing it was around 70 bucks.

True, steam cleaners do work, but the washing machine gets years worth of sweat, dirt, food, and farts out of there.

I've also used a steam cleaner, with pretty good results. However, there is the remote but very real possibility that the steam cleaner can reactivate an old fart that's been trapped in the seat. A rejuvenated old fart, like the proverbial angry genie fresh out his bottle, is not a good thing. Be careful out there.

ive been wanting to get one of those

I use woolite diluted 10:1 to clean carpets. spray a little on agitate it with a brush or rag and shop vac it out. works awesome on carpets. dont see any reason why it wouldnt work on seats. just try and use as little liquid as possible to make sure you get it all out.

that or if you really want reassurance, take them out to do it, and let them sit out and bake in the sun... or run a dehumidfier in your cab with the doors/windows shut maybe?

this technique works good on the carpet floorboards too:
spray it with purple power or just some kind of multi purpose cleaner and scrub it with a brush and take a water hose in one hand and the shopvac in the other and apply your steady stream of water while your sucking it up with the hose, the water lifts up the dirt from the past 400 years and you suck it up with the vac. kind of the same concept as steam cleaners...

Thanks for the humor, needed it today. Was working outside on my $250 91 4.0, a real PITA, :annoyed: sat in the weeds for 6 yrs and bought it fr a widow, only has 68k on the odometer.

Use your iron My wife steam cleans the carpet by scrubbing it til wet then steaming it with the iron then scrubbing again. My carpet looks immaculate, but be careful or you will have 1 clean spot in the middle of a buncha dirt.
