I know this sounds like a very trivial question, but I have my reasons for asking. When I get hired we plan on buying a very specific earlier body style Ford. Going through the local paper is one thing. But When I search for a specific models I always have issues on the internet. Most of the time a lot of the sites does not even go far enough back. It is a real damn annoyance. I know the truck we want will be somewhat tough to locate and will most likely be a long process. So I know I will have to look in other states at some point. What are tricks you all use when you are on the truck hunt? How do you locate older trucks that are too old for the bigger sites to list? I only want to go back to 92 through 94, apparently that is too old.

I've been able to use Autotrader.com and that has vehicles that are older. Also Ebay is a good place to look as well as craigslist. But to me autotrader seems to have the most vehicles and very good search options if you are looking for something specific.

I do not know why, but when I am on the Tarder sites, Ford are always an issue. There is always some kind of restriction that applies to the vehicle I am searching for at the time.

Try clicking this link, I searched for 92-94 Rangers with 4x4 for the whole country.

It returns 102 results for me.

It worked for me as well. I think the problem I had with the trader sites was with Truck Trader. It looks as though it is the other sites out there are a bigger pain in the ass.

I looked on e-bay when I bought my last truck,A 2001 extra cab Ranger with cruise,A/C,PS,4-W,auto V-6(pre SOHC),trlr pkg, etc. Found 4 across the nation and ended up buying one in Fla. I did pay for a check on the veh for accidents, etc which seemed to be OK. When I went dn to buy it everything was as stated and I drove the vehicle home to SLC with no surprizes. I have had the trk now some 14 months and there have been no surprizes yet! :) This trk is my co trk and I use it daily as well as pulling my boat to go fishing.

I wish you the same luck finding a good Ranger.

Ron V :) :) :)

I go to the JY and find the body and frame I want and then build the rest. But that's just me.

That is a great story RonV.

I am all about biulding my own trucks. You should see the project line up I have now. I wish I could attatch photographs to this site. If I could I would put up the Ranger I am building wiht one ton running gear and my tow rig. But this truck will be for my wife. She prefers her daily driver mostly stock

Photobucket.

I hate dealing with linking stuff. I know to some people it is easy. But I always have some kind of stupid issue with it.I do not know why the Ranger sites will not allow us to attatch photogrphs. Oh well, I guess I have to deal with it if I want to be on the site.

I prefer to stay away from dealers. Now that is not to say if we locate a perfect match at a dealer ship that I will not buy it.

When you have a lot of specfic items you want, it's going to take time. I just found the one I wanted after looked for three months. Found a 4x2 ext cab with the V-6 four door in beatutiful shape two hundred mile drive away. Bonus was it's just about an exact twin of my 4x4, bright red of course. You do have the option of loading your pictures right from your computer also but they come in the small thumbnail size as what I included.

I figured the hunt would take some time. That is another reason i need some tips.

How did you load them? I have tried in the past and it did not work.
