My son has a 97 2.3 auto ranger. We bought a 99 3.0 for parts. Both are 2wd. will the transmission out of the 99 go in the 97 if we needed it? Just trying to take off everything we might need before I have the 99 hauled off.

4r55e I believe, should be interchangeable

Bellhousing bolt patterns are different. I believe the bellhousings can be swapped. But it’s not an easy process.

Bells are different

Thank you guys. Well crap I was just thinking about stuff that could be useful before I get rid of the truck

Dang man that sux. Why not post it as a parts truck, sell the pieces separate, maybe even swap it for one more to fit your needs, or maybe sell it first, and then get one more suitable for parts on yours

So many things are like an old wise tale said, "It's nothing says the buyer, then when he goes his way he boasts" ;)

Take both transmissions to a shop and have them swap the bell housings. They will probably have the pump alignment tool, easy process.
