The other day, one of the guys I work with who drives a '00 GMC Sonoma 4.3L, is talkin sh!t about how his Sonoma is a street monster. Well....I'm notorious at work for being the "hotrod ranger guy" and he wants to race.
I figure what the heck, might as well. Dont have anything to lose.
So we find ourselves a nice abandoned stretch of pavement, 25mph rolling start with both of us in 1st gear. One, Two, Three and away we go. At first we were dead even with each other, shift at 4300, next thing I know his front bumper is even with the back of my cab. After that he couldn't get caught up.
Later on I got some more info on his truck, because by all rights he shoulda won. At least, I thought.
Sonoma:
4.3L 262cid, 180hp/245ftlbs
5-Speed Manual, 3.08 Open Diff
Ranger:
4.0L 245cid, 160hp/220ftlbs
5-Speed Manual, 3.08 Open Diff
Hes got the extended cab shortbed, and mine is too.
Is it me or is something amiss here? Does the Sonoma weigh more or something? No luck finding a dynosheet for the 4.3L either
