Great story. My brother had a 2001 s10 with the 4.3, longbed, extended cab. My mom had a 99 explorer. Though I liked driving the truck more, the explorer always seemed to have more power. The 4.3 just seemed slow. I have no idea of the gears of either vehicle. That explorer would always smoke the tires if I stomped it from a stop though.

I think maybe you won because thats just what is supposed to happen. Fords beat chevies.

I can drive down to Peoria someday when your home, and we can head towards the local venues of entertainment, or we can chill and find something to wrench on, knock one or two back in the process.

The 5.0 Buildup is slow going, right now the bare block sitting on a tire wrapped in a tarp on my back porch. I just moved into my own place at the end of May, difficult to find the money for a $2,000 build when you've got bills crawling out your ears, haha.

i out ran a eagle talon with a turbo tonight in my 89, with 31's and 3.73's. hes burning rings and redlines it everyshift.....i guess i just kept my 2.9 in its power band.

My buddy has a 95 Toy standard cab that's got a "really built 22RE" or something like that. The guy that was running it before him claimed about 250 hp. We live fairly close and one night following him home he tries to leave me in the dust up this steep hill, but no luck; I hear his motor wailing away through the fart can he has and I'm right off his bumper with my 2.9 spinning about 3000 or so. And that was with 31s and 3.73s.
