Horseshoe Clips On Front Axles

I Have Been Having A Problem Wityh The Horseshoe Clips On My Front Passenger Axle Just Wondering If Any One Has Had Same Problem And Fixed It Some Way By Getting Rid Of Them??????? Please Help Inm Tired Of Snapping Them Ogff And Having My Axle Slip Out

Are you refering to the c-clip that retains the axle shaft into the 3rd member, or the clips at the spindle end of the axle that retain those 2 or 3 washers?

the one retaining the washers but i dont have the washers in it never have been there so thAt could be my problem

Most likely, however, I have not run those for 1000's of miles. Hopefully someone else will chime in with their oppinion, but I chose to loose those a long time ago.

you havent run the washers or the retaining clip cause its causing my axle toslip out of the hub and get me stuck so i gottta climb under push it back in and go till it doers it again

I bet it's beacuse you don't have the splined washer on there.

Well, I should elaborate, I am also running ac-clip eliminator spring which forces the axle to stay in the hub. But even before that spring, I dont recall having any issues.

yea like i said ive had the truck for 3 years with no problem and now all of a sudden it does it every 2 weeks im looking to try and eliminate it anyway

What you need to do is order a pring from an Echo dealer. Echo is a lawn mower something or other, find a place that sells lawn equipment. The Echo part # is#:69621655730.

That should solve your problem for $3.00

what its a spring where you got it on your axle to push it into the hub?????

Here is the spring:

With some tack welds to hold it in place. I like a hoseclamp idea better tho

I still think you need to get the splinded washers on there

thank you thats a pretty good idea should i load the spring a little or just slip it onb and weld to keep it in and if the axle pushes the spring will push back or load it so its always pushing???

Right under the bead of weld there is a little ridge. Just put the end of the spring on top of that and install it. It will always put some forc on the shaft, enough to keep it where it needs to be.

I did the exact same thing, it works great.

Definitely use a hose clamp. Welding like that makes the shaft much weaker.
