Hi guys I'm new here and I'm in need of some answers my Rangers a 2001 two wheel drive, manual trans 2.5L XLT and I bought it used for good price I was hoping but now I see that is it going to cost me a lot to keep it running. The person I bought it from told me the frame has been welded and the bed is crooked I had to change the exhaust air filter and the differential cover because the truck is so rusted underneath it seems to be falling apart. When I start my truck it's taking a long time to start and is shaking violently. When I'm sitting at a light or when I push in the clutch the RPMs drop and the shifter and it seems the transmission just shake. When I'm slowing down to stop and I hit the brakes my truck bounces and Shakes. Any ideas would be helpful I know enough about vehicles to work on them and to fix things here and there but it seems like there's so many things wrong I'm at a loss I guess I'll just have to take it to a shop. It'll probably cost me a fortune. I know the transmission and oil pan AR leaking and I'm going to try to have a mechanic who lives in my neighborhood check it out for me because maybe he'll know more feasible ways to do it any help would be appreciated and I'm glad to be here thank you guys

It sounds to me like you've been had.

It sounds like your Friction plate is throwing a fit. When this happened to me I needed to replace the clutch/friction plate/throw out bearing.

Since this truck is still new to you, if it were me I would have the flywheel resurfaced too, as a preventative measure ..)

I hope by "you got it for a good price" you mean you traded a grilled cheese sandwich for it... doesn't sound like its worth anything more. :dunno:

before you put any more money into it crawl underneath and do a thorough rust inspection. take a small hammer and bang on the frame everywhere.

wear goggles!!!!

we don't really mean to rain on your parade, but it's in your best interest if we tell you there is a big storm on the horizon.
