Hey I just bought a 2001 b4000 4x4 it has 146158km on it duel stainless steel exhaust, air aid intake with stock tube, and 265/75r16 tires my problem is the truck has only ever gotten 300km per tank at best and it seems to be getting worse I do have a aggressive driving style I am working on fixing but still shouldn't be that bad.. Right now I have 157.7km on this tank of gas and I'm one needle width below a quarter tank. Should I be worried? Is there anything I can do to fix this?

I should add its a automatic, extended cab, no idea what gears, and it has 5 60lb sand bags in it right now for winter traction.

first off did you get the speedometer corrected after putting larger tires on the truck? If you didn't the odo will read less miles than you actually traveled. the weight in the back probably doesn't help either, and the cold weather may be a factor as well.

No I didn't I only went from 245/75R16 to 265/75R16 so I didnt think it would make enough of a difference to change the speedo?

Any change in tire size or gearing will make the speedo wrong. You made a decent jump in tire size also. Its real easy to change the speedo gear so you don't have to worry. The tech library has a write up on it. Also you should think about regearing you truck to make up for the loss of power from the bigger tires.

That's a theoretical 3.73% change in rolling circumference.

Also what's your calculated mileage? Just because you don't like how far it goes between fillups doesn't tell what the actual MPG is.

I don't know what the kpl or mpg is but my last tank only lasted 175km there is pretty obviously something wrong with it.

I didn't pay much attention last time I filled up, look if your going to be a dousch I don't need your help.

That's the only way you can acurately figure fuel mileage. :icon_twisted:
You're welcome for figuring out the calulated error with your oversize tires. :annoyed:

Dude, you bitch about "horrible" fuel mileage yet you don't even know how to calculate it nor are you concerned with accuracy. Fuel tank size, the gas gauge, and how far you go on a tank of gas have noting to do with mileage. Distance driven divided by fuel used equals mileage.

People here will do what they can to help you but in order for us to help, we need to know certain things. First thing is to find the actual mileage you are getting so you can tell just how horrible it is. A big part of it will probably be your increase tire size throwing off the speedo. Other than that though, do you know if its had any tune up recently? First thing I would do since you just bought the truck is replace the plugs, wires, air and fuel filter etc. If they are old they could be bringing your mileage down as well

Hey look read your own post as you say I don't know how to calculate it, when I made a thread on this I expected to get help maybe people telling me how to do this not just asking me questions I obviously don't have the answer to. Iv never had such incompetent and rude people "help me" before this site is honestly full of some of the biggest ass holes Iv ever met.
