Horn doesnt work.

Ok i have a 1986 ranger 2.3l 4x4.The horn doesnt work when i push the middle of the steering wheel.took that off and the cover around the colum and found two button like things on the back of the steering wheel that dont turn with the wheel.I put a screwdriver in between them and it worked so what in the middle of the steering wheel needs to be replaced?
