Ok I admit I am a bit confused with the mixed terminology between drag and center link...but I know that once I get the parts, and we take apart the bloody thing, I will get it ok...

I have to order parts, the following pic is shown as a Right Hand Inner Tie Rod end in RockAuto's catalog...



My question is this...is this a drag link or is the picture misleading me?

It looks like a tie rod end with a longer connecting rod to me, but they also list an Outer...I thought the *inner* was the drag link on the RH side...I am sooo confused. Sorry :dntknw:

This is the description in the listing:

MOOG Part # DS1161 {Tie Rod End}
Frt Strg; Inner; RH; 2WD; Connecting Tie Rod
Frt Strg; Inner; RH; 4WD; Connecting Tie Rod

Sorry to be such a blasted pain, but I'll be danged if I am going to spend more money than I need to...

thats the drag.....it connects to the pit and the pit is what drags stuff:derisive:
 
Yup thats the drag link, the end with the tie rod end built into it is the end that attaches to the pitman arm, then the outer threads onto the other threaded end. The drivers side inner tie rod goes into the hole near the pitman arm end.
 
Yea, what he said. The tie rod end goes where the threads are in that picture. Buy the parts ( if they need replacing ) and it will all make sense when your under the truck. It very easy. Just remember to remove the tie rod ends you either need a pickle fork or you just remove the castle nut and hit the piece that the tie rod end goes through on the knuckle with a hammer a few times and it will let go. You have to hit it hard a few times. If your not going to use the tie rod end again just beat it out. It also helps relieve stress.

Capt. Jay, that's a tie rod end. The nomenclature is indeed quite confused for inverted-Y steering, so I won't confuse it further.

Got up way to early this morning. Work keeps getting in the way of my sleep.

Got to work at 5:30a, walked in the door again at 8:30p. Did only one flight. Sat around the airport all day watching flights get canceled. Couldn't do my final trip to LNK because of FAA duty limitations. Man were the passengers pissed. Walking through the gate area I felt like a 3 legged gazelle going through a pride of lions. I actually had someone "boo hiss" me. Worst part is I've got to go back and do it again tomorrow, but they're still paying my mortgage so I guess I've gotta go.
 
WooHoo! I think I will have a full MOOG steering linkage once I am done...

Just have to jump through some *price matching* hoops and get the stuff ordered for delivery to a local parts store...thankfully, mom is going to be covering the cost for this little adventure. Hubby really lucked out. He still ain't driving my truck again though I don't think... *wicked laugh* Mine, Mine MINE! ;)
