Hood will not open after release

04 Ranger After I release hood from inside the cab the hood opens about an inch but i cannot get the open hook to move left and fully open. any suggestions.I have sprayed it with WD40.

ball your hand up and kinda pound the center of the hood with the bottom of your hand, and move the lever at the same time...thats what i have to do
