Not sure if thats the right title. I'm thinking os using the cyl from a minivan hatch under the hood of my explorer....anyone here done this? Any issues, etc?

I've seen retrofit kits to do exactly this online. I don't remember the cost or where to got them, but google and you will find...

Be careful...........They are made for different weight.
Make sure you can return them.

stuffforyourranger.com has them. you have to brace up the fenders where they mount though i think

Thankyou,

Im not to worried about having to return them, I already have them sitting on sitting on a shelf... I dont know exact weights, but I'd assume they should work for a hood, they're off of the rear hatch on a 95 caravan.

I didn't see anything on bracing, but I couldn't get the page with the manuals to open ( I'll try again later after work ), What sorta bracing do you think this would require? And also on just the fender or the hood as well?

should only need to brace the fender hood should be fine

So i lookedx at my brothers 09 f150, has the gas springs like i'm talking, they're really short tho, maybe 12 inches long at the most. The ones from the caravan are 18 -24" long, do you think this will make much of a difference? What about mount locations, etc; which is best?

redlinetuning.com I got the Elites followed the instructions put em on. Glorious no more damn prop rod!!! The ones I got were $119 they have some standards that are $69 I think. They come with all the mounting hardware and detailed instructions. No beefin nothin!!!
