Hood Differences?

I am curious what exactly are the differences between 83-88 and 89-92 hoods. I am looking at replacing my front clip and trying to get the parts list together and i think I have it all sorted besides the hood.

The '83-88s have a hood that angles downward at the front for about three inches or so.

The '89-92s have a hood that curves downward and is more vertical at the very front of the lip.


Putting one in place of the other would give you a gap at the front corners of the hood where it meets the grille and fenders.

I don't even think a Gen I hood would work on a Gen 2 grille... I could be wrong though.

thank you for the input. Ive had a Gen 2 before and just from looking at some catalogs and pics I didnt see anything obvious between the two hoods.
