My credo
If you can't go through it or around it, then go over it.
I have come to the conclusion that most people on Honda forums are idiot douche bags.

I asked about swapping a sohc 2.3l Vtec into my ‘94 Accord because the engine is 1/3 of the cost of the 2.2l sohc non Vtec that’s in it.

So I get all the reasons why I should spend $2500 on an H22 whatever and no one that can answer simple questions like wiring differences and what ecm to use. It’s like the users of a Honda forum have never heard of a tech library they can refer someone to. Which is all I really want.

I have come to the conclusion, independently of you, that the types of Honda owners that would frequent a forum the way we do with our Rangers are exactly the type of people you describe.

The problem with Honda owners that there are two types. The kind that just want a reliable car with good MPG who don't use forums. Then there are the guys that think every Honda needs a 30 PSI turbo and should be putting 1000 HP to the wheels who do use forums.

I might agree with you if I knew what a DSM was.

If you think you are referencing my user name because it resembles an acronym for something you should know that I got it by literally just mashing the keyboard one day and then changing the last to characters to my college graduation date because apparently = wasn't a valid character to use in a screen name..

Not really...

Most of them want to turbo or AWD swap a NA or FWD (respectably) car as cheap as possible.

Diamond Star Motors for adsm; Eagle Talon, Mitsubishi Eclipse, Plymouth Laser and a few others. The relationship between Mitsubishi and Chrysler kinda fizzled in the early 00's. Neat cars, I loved my Laser.

Back when I was in the turbo world. Dsm guys would laugh at anything that wasn’t a Mitsubishi product. Used to be so annoying. But I’m going back a good 10 years. Maybe things have changed.

No I wasn’t not talking about you. DSM stand for diamond star motors. Mitsubishi. Eagle. And Plymouth use the term DSM to describe the 4g63 engine they came equipped with.

Ah. Never heard it called that.

I sold mine 13 years ago. I did make fun of Probes (there was kid in high school that thought his was pretty hot) but I was kind of a lone wolf DSM'er. I was on a forum a little and it seems like it was mainly NA guys wanting boost and FWD guys wanting to convert to AWD.

As far as turbo cars that was about it in my world though, never ran into anyone with a SVO or anything. There were other DSM's in the high school parking lot, one NA FWD, one NA AWD and my turbo FWD. And one the Probe...

In the college I went to diesel trucks were the thing and having a bone stock car I kept a low profile.

yeahhhh... damn jeep guys...

Yeah so.... I’m scrapping the Vtec idea and swapping in a non Vtec DOHC 2.2l.... no wiring differences except running 1 wire to the secon fan

My boy had an older model Acura Integra (94?) & lots of parts were interchangeable. First time I've worked on a Honda car (had a new 89 Accord but that's for another day).
It was really simple if one has prior practice on FWD models.

The only tools needed was the 1 1/4 socket that comes in 3/4 drive & breaker bar for the big nuts on c.v. shafts.

I was able to swap motors & do the clutch by myself, light & simple.

The only part that kept failing was the distributor, copper windings would unravel into a birds nest-
