Here's my idea. If you have any input or a better idea let me know. I want to make rear leaf spring perches and at the same time bring the rear up 8" or so to match the front. If I start with 3" by 10" tube, cut the proper size hole for the axle tube in 2" deep in the tube (its and 8.8 so the hole diameter is 3.25"), drill out the center pin. Also I want to make them 7" long to eliminate the axle wrap that these things are bound to create. This seems easier and more sturdy then a block and shackle combo. What do you think???

Building the perch a couple inches taller....sure....8" taller...hell no.

Proper springs and a quality shackle will be much better.

It seems to me that if you can put a skinny little lift block in there then why not a wide a sturdy but tall perch??

the positive is you won't get the lift block spitting out but the negative is you will get all the rest of the negatives of a block that tall like bad axle wrap and such

Wow.....you should post this idea on Pirate4x4 because it is such a good one, I am going to go out and build me a set right now. Better yet, you sound like a master fabricator, you build me some and I will paypal you $500...

benny... no need to be a dick.

I will admit this is a very bad idea, but call it that and leave it be. at one point none of us knew a dam thing about trucks, so go easy on those learning whats good and whats bad.

All I was trying to say was if you can use a 4" or 6" block then why not make a long perch to combat the axle wrap.

The tall perch doesn't change anything, it's the roll center of the axle housing under torque by moving it away from the leafs that causes axle wrap. Spend a couple hundred bucks and get proper leafs.... do it right or don't bother doing it. Hell, you could get cheap 80's Chev leafs and just move the hangars.... there's always 6-8" ones floating around here for $100-200...

Benny....chill out.....
