For all you people who have made there own doubler plate out of 1/2" steel how do you align the front t-case with the rear t-case? Do you attach the plate to the rear case put the sector shaft in and align the front case on the plate where is feels like it will not bind when the input shaft (on the front plate) is spun? Thanks

What I would probably do is put the cases together on the shaft, and then wiggle (slide) it around, noting how much it moves in all directions (marking the plate as you go). Then try to center it as best you can inside of those markings.

Probably not the most ideal, but is the best way to position it I came up with without using precision instruments.

Yeah doing it like 4x4Junkie seems to work the best. Make sure you get the shaft centered as best you can before you mount the shift rod to the plate. If that shift rod gets out of whack it makes it very stiff to shift.

That's what I did, and have used the truck as a DD for a few years with no issues.

But it isn't optimal. You won't be dead on, but should be close enough.

Thanks. It will not be a daily driver by any means but it will be driven up to 5 hr occasionally to get to distant trails and around town.
