Those are looking good! One thing I would have done is plated them up all the way. That style cromoly beam end from a certain high end shop has been known to twist in that area. Also how is the passenger side beam just strait? Or is there a forward bend in it to allow the front end to be pushed forward?

you went through all that and didnt tig it

gotta work with what you got. i would have MIGed it too though id turn the heat way up and stitch welded it to give it the TIG effect :D.

The beams do look awesome! i would agree with dave though, plating them all the way and even around the junction poin to fthe beam end and tubing to help hold it all together under high stress. Damn good lookin though!

I made a jig using the stock beam so the the pivot compaired to the end of the beam are all the same geometry as the stock beams only 4.5 wider, there is a slight bend in the beam that cant really be seen in the pic. As for strength and design I live on the east coast and never seen a prerunner in person so its learn as I go, I'm building these beams from a picture on camburgs web page and keep in mind that this truck will never see a race just some MILD offroad use, we dont even have deserts here its all about the build for me. If this thing actually drives when im done i'll be happy lol. If it does work out and im happy with the truck ill be pulling it all apart again the following winter and going to a equal length setup.

I didnt tig it because I dont have a tig and dont know how to use one and i am not paying someone 60 bucks an hour for some "pretty" welds

I got one side of the drivers side plated tonight and couldnt resist mocking it up on the chsis

sory about the quality I had the lights in the shop off when I snapped the pic on my phone.

I know the driver side spring is not in the bucket you can save the comment its only a mockup to make sure the beams clear everything

Thanks to everyone for the advice, I dont know alot about this stuff.

Those defintely look good man, but why go through all that work and not through a bend in them to run the stock beam brackets?

ummmmm ahhhhh welllllll I dont have a driver side bracket to put back on and i am eventually gonna cut the tubing off and change it to equal lenght so for now to cut down on my inital costs im gonna use the drop brackets and brace them to take the extra force. did you get your beams on the truck yet? cant wait for the pics.

yeah ya gotta have shenanegans, life's no fun without 'em

i enve you for having a lift in your shop :D. When i buy my house this summer thats the first thing im puttin in the back yard! you never realize how nice they are till you use one lol

thats at the shop I work at, i'm the shop foremen at a aftermarket accessory store, mostly truck caps, hitches, commercial van equiptment, trailers. We get a few lift kits and lowering kits, alot of cat back systems, intakes and programers. Having the keys to the building is a good thing 3 bays, 2 lifts, and a box liner spray booth and as long as I pay for the gas and cutting/grinding discs and other consumibils the boss dont mind me being there sometimes til 2 or 3 in the morning. I built a woden stand that I can lay my chasis on and move it around with a forklift and as long as its not in the way on monday morning everyone is happy. I'm building a 24x28 garage at my house now though so when its finished I will be moving my truck to a more perminant home where I can work on it with a bit more comfort, I will be installing a lift in my garage as well. The nice thing about working there is I get good deals of everything for my truck, I just got 4 sets of PIAA lights from our rep for free, I wouldnt be able to afford this build with out the discounts.
