Does anybody know if any of the gen 3 Rangers came with the handles on the ceiling, or the front column in front of the door? I have a 95 XL (Hence the name), and it doesn't have them at all, but I'd like to snag some from the junkyard to help the old lady climb in. I've taken those panels off that go up to the ceiling, and I don't see anyplace for them to even mount. Thanks for any info.

I know that there aren't any on the passenger A-pillar. As for the ceiling... I can't quite remember offhand.

Oh shit handles, chicken handles, etc. If your vehicle didn't come with them, the mounts won't be there either. You'll need to pull the headliner and intall the nuts that hold the screws that hold the handles.
OR you could just get handles from any old thing and put them it with self tapping screws. The screws will work loose and won't hold when you really need them but, they will be there when you don't.

My '94 has one over the passenger door.

'98 has 'em on both A-pillars.

I think it was only the XLT (and above) trim that got handles.

I went to the yard today and pulled one out of a 93 or 94 XLT, (I did notice that only the XLT's had them). The mounts were tacked intot he framework of the cab though, from what I could see anyways. There wasn't any way of removing the mounts themselves.

It seems to me that ford wouldn't have altered the assembly line just to skip over welding in those little mounts, so I'm going to see if mine has them, but are just hidden under my headliner. Thanks for the info guys.

I just installed the handle. In case any one else was wondering, the mounts are there, but are just under the headliner, in the gen 3's anyways.

The GenI and IIs didn't have the holes unless they came with the handles. At least none of mine did. I have punched the holes and installed trim clips before. It works.

I wonder if the drivers side has the mounts there. I have a 97 xlt with the passanger handle but wouldnt mind one for the drivers side

Honestly, I think most cars don't come with a handle on the drivers side for a reason... If are driving and you feel the need to grab a handle, you really should probably be driving the car (grabbing the steering wheel), not holding a handle.

My 93 XLT ext. cab has a handle on the passenger side.

I want to put one in on my truck, because it's gonna have a 3' (ya you read that right, 36") step in height to the rockers. I don't think I should be yanking on the steering wheel that much.....

in my 96 XL i have one above the passenger door (ceiling) however i don't have one on the driver's side, its kinda shitty because i usually hold the handles just driving around, as for my '91 GMC Sierra, it had them and i was addicted to hangin onto them.

I just installed the handle. In case any one else was wondering, the mounts are there, but are just under the headliner, in the gen 3's anyways.

Did you happen to notice if the mounts/nuts are there on the drivers side too?

I want a handle on the drivers side of my 94. Would help getting in and out easier.

I have them on both sides of my 05 Edge. :icon_thumby:
