holley 2bbl adjustments

have any of you guys with holleys on your 2.3's playe with the jetting and or squirter sizes? i am thinking since mine came from a ford 351M, it may be a little fat.. plus the plugs are a little sooted up. running good, but i wanna get it tuned in just right.

I haven't begun to adjust mine yet, hopefully this next summer. I ran all Ford 2bbls in the past.

Try this
My setup: 350 holley 2 bbl
#29 squirter
6.5 power valve
55 main jets

That should get you close.

thanks ken... i just got off the phone with a friend who has a similarly built 2.3 on his buggy except he has a 500 holley, which he says i need... his has 78 jets, 31 squirter... he didnt say which powervalve he has, knowing him it is blocked off. i think before i change over to a 500, i will try the jetting you listed.

You'll like the 350 better if you need low rpm power, and better drivablilty if it's on your daily ride.

The trick to getting a 500 to work on a small dispacement engine like the 2.0 - 2.5's is not to block off the power valve, but to take the metering block and decrease the size of the two enrichment holes (that the the power valve provides fuel to) down to .017" - .020" in dia, the diameter of the stock 500 power valve enrichment holes are way too big causing a bad stumble when the power valve opens, when you block off the power valve you have to go bigger on the main jets to compensate for no power valve which inturn will make the fuel mixture rich in the lower rpm range decreasing potential power (along with gas mileage) in the lower rpm range.
