How can i tell if my 5.0 is a MAF motor or Speed density. I got a 5.0 from a buddy of mine and I cant tell. He doesnt remember what year of car it came from but he remembers it was from a Wagon. I cant remember if its even an HO motor or not. I was also looking at Painless wiring harnesses so thats how I figured I should ask. Are they worth the $861 or will I do just fine getting a truck 5.0 harness? Can anyone explain to me the how the painless kits work? I guess I have alot of wiring questions cause Ive never done this kind of swap before so Im a bit timid about it. If it helps im going from a 2.9 to a 5.0 in a 92 if anyone has some awesome diagrams for the dash harness it would be awesome.

A 5.0 HO from a MAF style car is the same a Speed Density car, so that's of no concern.

You do need to figure out if it's HO or LoPo, as the firing order is different.

A Mustang harness is $100 or less, so think about thought in relation to the Painless cost.

If that engine is out of a wagon then it's more than likely a lopo not an H/O.
