Fellow RBVers;
I didn't really know where to put this so made it an event.
My surgery for total left hip replacement occurred today. I'm uunder the influence of some Doorgunner level drugs so my spelling and typing suxs.
Be in hospital till thurs/fri. Going to be 6 weeks or so before I can climb in my Truck.
Ranger SVT being the good Brother he is, is going to work on my SAS DANA44while I'm down, though I'd like to do some of it.
Oh on a side note, that crazy coon ass got a job on FT Campbell fixing grounds equipment (mowers, weedeaters, blowers, etc...) Oh I said blowers!!!
HAHAHAHA:icon_thumby::icon_thumby:

damn....hip...damn......damn

damn thats gotta suck.

best to ya bro, hope you heal well and in peace:icon_thumby:

procedure

They cut the ball off the top of the femur.
Drive a 4-6" spike down into the femur with a ball on top.
Due to press fit, if femur cracks they put a metal cable tie around it and tighten down and let it fuse to bone, stays in.
Take a grinder and "hollow out pelvis" then press fit or cement the cup in place. Then it goes together like a ball in a socket.
made of some high tech plastic or ceramic. Told it might "squeke". Asked sawbones for a Zerk fitting, don't see one though!!!

Oh boy here comes all the funny guys. What did I expect from a bunch of motorheads..
More like a ball end allen wrench in a bolt!!
I don't keep a sense of humor this shit gonna drive me insane laid up in the bed!!!!

did you opt for the lift kit? how much can the good doctor get you , another 2-4 inches of height?

I asked for a 1/2" due to the leg was that much shorter. any more and I would have been "off camber".

Wouldnt that make your shoes wear to the inside or would it be the outside.:dunno:?

Good luck with the recovery my friend,looking forward to seeing ya again!

Damn, that doc sounds like he was a mekanik before he got his license from the bubble gum machine at the AAFES Shoppette:icon_rofl: Jay, you should have requested a 12 inch lift kit with that ball joint replacement, your gonna need it to get into your truck when you can walk again, or I can just install a grandma step for ya:D
SVT

They'll have you up on your feet PDQ.

Tough out the PT, it pays off. Get the full range of motion back and build up those muscles.

Good luck on your recovery.

Bet you walk tomorrow if they operated today.

Flirt with the nurses and pinch a cute one for me. Redhead, if possible.....

i can feel your pain,when i was 14 they took a piece of bone from my right hip to do a bone graft on my upper jaw from a cleft palate so along with the pain in the hip i had my jaw wired shut for 4 weeks and had to have lunch through.

hang in there my prayers are with you that you'll be chasing the nurses down the hall by Friday.:icon_thumby:

I wanted to get it done before I retired so the VA didn't send me to the local chop shop. Was way tired of the limp, the pain and feelin like hammered dog shit from a combo of lortabs, flexeril, tramadols.
